Soniya Ekici-
Soniya Ekici is a Houston based henna artist whose love for the art runs generations deep. Born into a family of henna artists, with both her mother and grandmother practicing before her. She was surrounded by the scent and symbolism of henna even before she was born. Growing up in India, she learned that henna was more than an adornment. It was a sacred form of expression, connection and celebration. For over 31 years, Soniya has carried that legacy forward, blending cultural tradition with her own mesmerizing artistic style. While her foundation lies in classic Indian design, her creativity expands across mediums…from intricate henna and detailed drawings to clay work, painting, and handcrafted accessories. Her artistry is both intuitive and intentional, reflecting her belief that creativity is a pathway to healing and self-discovery. Though she earned a degree in Biology and worked in medical research, nothing could keep her from returning to henna…her true calling. Today, Soniya combines her scientific understanding of natural ingredients with her artistic intuition, using only pure, natural henna that honors the integrity and safety of the craft. Through her henna company, Soniya also offers workshops, sound bowl sessions, and energy healing experiences. Inviting others to connect more deeply with art, mindfulness and community. She also recently introduced her own line of hand-mixed solid perfumes, inspired by nature and ritual. In addition, she’s a 200-hour registered yoga teacher, past-life regression therapist, skilled seamstress and end-of-life doula in training, all extensions of her mission to bring peace, creativity, and compassion into the spaces she touches. Approachable and deeply grounded, Soniya continues to honor her roots while evolving her artistry…creating spaces where beauty, energy, and human connection come together in harmony |
